What are your biggest annoyances or bugs with Twitter?

I posted this on Google+ back in 2012. Interesting to see what I found most annoying back then. Although Twitter have fixed a few issues, most are still a problem. It’s difficult to filter out the noise. But thank goodness for Twitter lists! They at least allow you to fine tune your listening to specific groups of people. I also use a Twitter app I develop, Twools, to fine to this further but excluding tweets from certain apps.

How about you? What’s the most annoying thing about Twitter?

What are your biggest annoyances or bugs with Twitter?

I’m writing a blog post on the most annoying bugs in Twitter and the most annoying annoyances. I’ve come up with around 20. What do you think and can you think of some more?

1. No Central Place to Manage Mobile Notifications

2. Unfollow Bug

3. No Application Name for Direct Messages (meaning you can’t see what app they used to send you the DM)

4. Managing Direct Messages is pants

5. API Language Filter Bug (if you use an app to show you English only tweets/tweeters it isn’t reliable, not even close)

6. Too many people blatantly buy followers and Twitter doesn’t do anything about it

7. Managing Twitter Lists is plain painful

8. It’s All or nothing Privacy- you can’t set one tweet to private- just all.

9. Management of Multiple Accounts- 3rd party apps make this easy but you can’t do this through the web interface

10. Multiple People Managing One Account- unless you use an app like Hootsuite you have to give full access to everyone who manages the Twitter account including username and password. Not good practice

11. Spam

12. Tweets more than 3200 are inaccessible

13. Hash Bang

14. Lack of RSS

15. You can’t export your (or anyone else’s) Tweets

16. You can’t tweet to a group of people. For example if I want to separate my Tweets into different interest groups (Google+ anyone?)

17. No Filter (for spam, profanity or application name- be good to filter out Foursquare, Empire Avenue etc)

18. Lack of transparency on being verified and how to get verification
