Ideas for Twools v0.20
Hi everyone. Unfortunately I’ve had no time to devote to Twools over the past 6 months. Having said that, the latest version works very well and hasn’t needed an update. However, I do plan on working on an updated version. I plan on doing a substantial rewrite and then to release the code on GitHub. I hope that other developers can then help me improve Twools in the future.
Could you let me know what improvements you’d like to see in Twools? What are the missing features?
Here are my thoughts for the next version…
– Twools will be one download and can either be used as WordPress plugin or the standalone app
– Upgrade the UI to use Twitter Bootstrap 3
– I’l be merging Streams and Feeds into one which we’ll be calling Streams. When you view a stream there will be the option to show the RSS feed and possibly other formats to (plain text etc)
– I’d like the option for “saving” streams and feeds so that they can be easily found in future.
– Clear cache button to delete all the cache files
– Features for media and Twitter cards
– option to email new items in streams/feeds
– better support for unshortening URLS together with caching.
– UI for config file in standalone version of Twools so that you don’t have to edit a file anymore.
– system check- check for version of PHP, cURL etc
– Spam filter to show latest direct messages with option to highlight likely spam messages. Option to block the users who have sent the spam message
– in streams give an option to bulk add users to a Twitter list. Would love to add option to bulk follow/unfollow but unfortunately this is against Twitter’s terms.
– option to reply/retweet/favorite directly in Twools
For versions after that I’d love to add the following, but currently these are out of my current expertise!
– Ability to manage multiple Twitter accounts
– Sign in with Twitter instead of having to register a Twitter app and entering tokens
– Add support for Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+
