SoundCloud has just gone unlimited!
Really exciting news- SoundCloud has now updated their pricing and has scrapped their old plans with two new paid ones- Pro and Pro Unlimited. This makes SoundCloud so much more affordable.
I’ve been thinking for a long time that SoundCloud is going to be big, and I think this is going to be the start of it.
I was a solo plan user paying 79 Euros per year and I have been upgraded to Pro Unlimited for free. It normally costs 99 Euros per year or 9 Euros per month. There is also a cheaper plan called “pro” which costs only 29 Euros per year- this gives you up to 4 hours storage.
The Pro unlimited plan gives you:
– Post unlimited sounds
– Unlimited downloads/sound
– Comprehensive stats
– Quiet mode
– Spotlight
I think the social network part of SoundCloud is going to make it fantastic for podcasters. However do make sure you embed the MP3 file in your RSS feeds as embedding the SoundCloud player alone will not make it a podcast feed. I use the PowerPress plugin for WordPress to do this.
