Parallel Connection woes- can anyone help?

Parallel Connection woes- can anyone help?

I’m trying to connect my dad’s HP Laserjet printer to a mini print server and another printer to his PC. Because his PC only has USB and both printers use Parallel interfaces we decided to get a USB to Parallel adapter to plug one printer into the PC. This one seems to work ok, but plugging the HP LaserJet into the print server is different.

I was under the (incorrect) impression that there was only one type of parallel connection. I’ve taken photos of the three connections we’ve got. The smaller connection (the 3rd photo) connects into the back of the HP printer. The other end of this cable is a 25 pin connector (the 1st photo). Unforuntantely we want to connect this to the back of a Parallel print server which has another type of connection (the middle photo).

Can anyone shed any light on this? It’s very confusing!
