Move over Google+, well hello Diaspora

To be honest, I’d completely forgotten about Diaspora. It seems like years since the concept was announced. Mark Zuckerberg donated an undisclosed amount of money to the group because he thought their project was “a cool idea”. It sounded exciting at the time when Facebook showed no regard to our privacy and there were questions on who actually owned our stuff. Diaspora meant to put the owneership back with the user and sort out privacy once and for all. A lot of that has been addressed with Google+ (although perhaps not the ownership issue). Anyway, they’re sending out alpha invites at the moment so looking forwards to receiving mine.

So what do you think? Does another social network make you want to yawn, or does it make you excitied? I’d be interested in your thoughts!
