Are you confused about Google+ Extended Circles? You’re not alone
I was chatting with a friend, Lisa Chilvers this week and the topic of Google+ came up. We agreed that one of the biggest problems for its uptake has been the fact that it is confusing for a lot of newbies.
Circles are powerful, and I love the fact that I can segment the people I follow into interest groups, engagers, supporters, notification groups and more, but it can be confusing at first.
Then there is the public circle- that’s fairly obvious- if you post to your public circle it’s, well, public! But what about the extended circles circle? And what happens if you post to your public circle and another circle? Is it any different?
Well, if you want to know more, martin shervington is your man. He knows more than a few things about Google+ and I think that probably is the understatement of the century!
Oh, and while you check out this article, you may as well check out Plus Your Business! and start using my favourite social tool that turns Google+ into a wonderful social media management tool- Friends+Me

Extended Circles
It is a shame that after a year and a half I am still not quite sure who sees what when you share it on GPlus (I mean really this isn’t rocket science why not make it very clear?) I generally share everything to public and have probably only selected the extended circles option once or twice to see what it did.
For the most part, it seems to me that people choose extended circles when they are sharing NSFW posts and copyright infringed photos – has anyone else noticed this?
Anyway, martin shervington provides some explanation for how notifications work on his website, but I still find EC a little unclear.
