Google Glass Grows Wings & is now available in the UK

I sometimes wonder if Google has heard of the rest of the world! That’s just me being bitter because sometimes they offer services within the US (for example Google Voice, Google Play edition phones etc). However, Google have allowed their flagship Project Glass to sprout wings and go international. Google Glass Explorer is now available in the UK for the sum of £1,000 (which is around $1,700- $200 more than the US).

The Explorer Programme is a beta testing plan where you can buy Glass with direct support from Google. You are asked to provide feedback as they develop the device.

So, are you going to buy glass? I’m not, not yet at least and I have a number of reasons.

1) Although I definitely believe Glass is the future and will be the forefront of wearable technology, it is still very early days. I am an early adopter, but I want to wait and see with this.

2) £1,000 is a lot of money. It’s not a huge amount of money compared to other techie products (TVs, laptops etc), but I can’t afford or justify that at the moment.

3) I would feel a complete idiot walking around with Glass. Perhaps that is a lack of confidence- Glass Explorers like Derek Ross obviously feel comfortable walking around wearing glass, but I’d be too self conscious. It’s going to be a long while before that changes and the concerns of privacy disappear.

So, what do you think? Will you be Exploring the possibility?!
