Google+ tip: Displaying the image from a person’s original post via an embedded link

h/t to martin shervington for this rather clever trick.

If you ever want to share a G+ post from someone, you could try this. Firstly, get the URL of the G+ post (click on the time or date and then copy the URL in the address bar) and then paste it into the link when creating a new post.

There is an easy walkthrough gif to help you understand what I am on about. Have a look below- it’s quite cool!

Google+ Posts – displays the image from a person’s original post via an embedded link.

You’ll see from this #GifTip  how dropping in the link to a person’s post can display it in a similar way to a blog post. Very cool.

More here…

Scenario A: Sharing a link from a Google+ post (the cube one) generate a small image

Scenario B: Sharing a link from a Google+ post (with an optimized image) is generated the same for of embedded ‘large’ image post – the same as it would a website blog post i.e. it has the serrated edge at the bottom, the link text, and then text from the post too.

This could well encourage people sharing each other’s posts as links and driving attention back to them instead of to a website, especially as it means we can easily re-contextualize the post without people seeing that the other person authored it i.e. their image does not appear in the same way as if we share their post.

All in all, this may give us all another way to think about sharing!

Thanks Denis Labelle for the inspiration; he is on the ball 😀
