Hi Dustin W. Stout, Nicholas Cardot and Jason T. Wiser
I continue to recommend the Social Warfare plugin to people. It really is the best social sharing plugin out there IMHO, but that’s not exactly news for you guys.
I wondered if there was a place where you share your thoughts and ideas for the future development of the product? Have you ever thought about a public Trello board? That would be cool!
I’ve been meaning to share some thoughts and ideas with you guys and ask some questions. When you get the chance, let me know what you think.
Social Snippet Sharing
Not really sure what to call this. You make it easy to share links to the page with different social networks- each with an image, link and text. However, I am trying to make it easier for people to share different parts of my article. The click to tweet option is great, but how about sharing to other networks such as Facebook and particularly Pinterest? Is that even a good idea? Have you seen this new tool called Missing Lettr? It’s quite an interesting tool (which unfortunately is currently Twitter only) which sets up a schedule for your new potentially Evergreen content and it extracts different images and sections from your posts and shares them over time. I love the idea.
Add hidden Pinterest image to top of article
The Pinterest optimized image feature in SW is awesome, but what if people use the standard Pinterest button? The Pinterest optimized image will not be seen. It would be good to have an option for SW to add the Pinterest optimized image at the top of the article but hidden to the visitor (so Pinterest can see it but the visitor can’t)
Embed images in Twitter automatically
I am not sure if this is still the case, but it’s a real pain to embed images in the Twitter share option. I’ve had to manually post the tweet and add the image in Twitter. Then grab the embed code and get the url of the Twitter image. It must be possible for SW to do this automatically? Buffer allows you to post new images for example. Maybe SW could send a tweet out with the image, then grab the image for next time? Just a thought?
Other plugins?
Are you guys working on other plugins? At the moment I am very frustrated by commenting plugins. There is no perfect solution. I recently moved from Disqus to Postmatic (with the Epoch plugin to make it look like Disqus). I won’t add all my thoughts here, but I’ve looked through all the options and there are disadvantages in all. Happy to give you my thoughts if you are interested.
Thanks for listening!
