Hi Ralph M. Rivera and Carol Lynn Rivera

Hi Ralph M. Rivera and Carol Lynn Rivera,

Hope you don’t mind me messaging you here, but I wanted to bounce some ideas of you guys. As you may (or may not) know, I have my own web agency here in the UK called Select Performers with my dad. I’ve been running it part time for the past 10 years but now is the time to get out of my comfy chair and get serious! In some ways our businesses are not a million miles apart in terms of what we offer. We offer websites (mainly WordPress based ones), hosting/maintenance/management etc and digital marketing.

I found your posts on WP prices really helpful and it’s been helpful in getting our internal pricing document more up to date. I wondered if you had something similar or how you actually work out your prices?

Here is our current price doc (please keep to yourself!):

Costs are in pounds sterling so you’ll have to multiple by 1.67!

We tend to provide fully managed hosting for all our websites and provide WordPress site management. Website maintenance is optional but encouraged and we offer “up to xhrs per year” packages as well as pay as you go.

Working out the cost of developing a website is the difficult one. I found your articles really helpful. I know we’re charging less than we should be. A fairly recent custom built WP site (the theme was built from scratch) was charged at around $2,000 but I am trying to see if we can go for the $5,000 mark due to the amount of work required.

I also wondered what you use to manage a project? One of the frustrations is putting the milestones in place and keeping the communication going between us and the client- and managing the expectations.

I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I just thought it might be a good opportunity to bounce ideas off each other!
