iPad Frustrations

iPad Frustrations

So, I got an iPad in the end.

I’ve been very impressed with…

1) The gorgeous retina hi-res screen

2) The number of high quality apps

3) The look and feel of the iPad

4) Being able to watch Netflix and Youtube on it with ease

However there have been some very very frustrating issues, and ones that I was wondering whether you, dear Google+ user, had experience with? Perhaps there are ways round these issues?

1) I’ve ripped all my CDs to my PC. I want to be able to play these on my iPad. I can’t because they are all in WMA format. I wanted to avoid installing iTunes, but in the end I installed it on my desktop PC. In order to add my music files to iTunes it wanted to convert them all to AAC. This would mean a duplication of my entire music library- not good for disk space. I suppose I could junk my old WMA files after that, but then I’d be using AAC which is less compatible with all my devices and wifi music player. Finally I could use mp3 but that isn’t as good quality.

2) The majority of my videos are in mpg format. This is because our camcorder records in mpg. I’ve found out that iTunes doesn’t import these files into iTunes as well as quite a few other video formats. This is because my iPad won’t play these formats. Why?

3) I can’t seem to save any files to my iPad. if someone emails me an attachment or a link to a media file, I’d love to be able to save it to my iPad. This doesn’t seem to be possible unless I send it to an app. The video, photo or music app doesn’t save these files to the iPad.

4) I can’t share a link with another app. For example, if someone sends me a link to a cool website, I might want to add it to another app (like email, Buffer, Dropbox etc).

5) I have a few email accounts that use IMAP. If I delete an email off the account on another computer, it doesn’t delete off the IMAP account on my iPad. This is really annoying as I like to keep a clutter free inbox.

6) I love Swype on my Android mobile. I don’t think I can install this on the iPad- I am stuck with the stock virtual keyboard.

Anyone have any tips on the above?
