Google is no longer passing on referral data with users who are logged in. This means web site owners will no longer be able to see what keywords people have used to find their site. It’s frustrating and SEO and analytics people are up in arms. Google claims this is due to privacy, but since users could opt into an encypted search before this doesn’t seem that likely. Couple this with the fact that if you click on one of the paid for Adwords adverts then Google do pass on the data. A tad hypocritical?
