To the search engine bots your rich snippet connects you to your Google Authorship so the SE knows you are the author of your content and that’s a good thing.
To your fans and followers your http://bit.ly/RichSnippet is the visual queue that let’s them know you are the author and if you’ve done a good job of establishing the Know Like and Trust factor, the chances of them clicking your authorship head shot probably go up 10 fold.
