Why are we doing Halloween?

I could write a lot more about this, but don’t have the time this morning. But i’m just wondering what the obsession with Halloween is all about? It never was a big thing on the UK ten plus years ago but now you can’t get away from it. I don’t have an issue with people “celebrating” it if they want to, but when my kids are subjected to Halloween food boxes at M&S it’s gone too far. Some children can be sensitive to “frightening” things, and not all of us want to associate ourselves with playing with ghosts, spiders, vampires and evil/scary things. Most people see Halloween as harmless and a bit of fun. It probably is in most cases, but I can’t be doing with it. And don’t get me started on trick or treating.
