Do you schedule your social media posts? Would you like to schedule your G+ profile posts?
There’s no question, I love scheduling when it comes to social media. It’s the only way I can manage all my social accounts as well as getting some work done during the week. It also allows me to have some down time away from the web.
With the power of scheduling comes a big responsibility though. It’s important to make sure you set aside multiple times each day to respond to replies, mentions and comments. If all you’re doing is one-way posting then you’ve completely missed the point and power of social media.
It’s been very easy to schedule posts on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook but not so with Google+. It took a while for Google+ to release an API to make it possible for 3rd party tools such as Buffer and Hootsuite to allow you to post and schedule from outside of Google+. However, the API has always only allowed write access to Google+ pages. It’s never been possible to post or schedule to Google+ profiles without some work arounds.
One work around was to use Google Voice and SMS- it was quite a pain to set up and was a bit of a hack. The worst bit was that you could post only text updates.
Then there was the Chrome Extension DoShare. This allows you to schedule posts to your Google+ profile. The problem is that it is buggy and you do need your computer switched on.
So, I am excited to be testing out a new way using Friends+Me. It uses its Chrome Extension and allows you to schedule. It’s in its early days but looks really promising.
So, are you a scheduler? Would you like to schedule your Google+ profile posts?
