Video: Does regular posting on social media gain more engagement? My quick answer!
I was interviewed by Nicola Humfress from Social Media Experts recently. We discussed the strategy of how you post to different networks. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ all work differently and have different audiences. So what kind of content works on each one and how regularly should we post? I gave a quick answer in this short video, but I’d be interested to know more about what your strategy is.
– Which networks do you post to regularly? Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook?
– How often do you post to each one? Why?
– What tools do you use to post to all of these?
I think it is important to ask these questions, but also to ask what you are wanting to achieve.
For me, I post very regularly to Twitter each day. I share interesting content which I find online and enjoy the way I can quickly interact with others. I often post quality content over and over again so that it has greater reach. Because I want to have more of a global reach, I try and post at different times throughout the day.
Facebook and Google+ are different. I post far less regularly on these networks because quality is far more important- particularly when it comes to Google+. Users on Google+ are very engaging and love quality and in-depth content.
As for tools, I use a mixture. I wouldn’t be without Friends+Me which turns Google+ into a Social Media Management Tool. In fact I am using it to cross post this post to selected social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, my Google+ page and app.net). I also use IFTTT to connect feedly to Buffer. This allows me to share interesting articles that I discover at scheduled times throughout the week.
